| English: A Very Long Engagement. Movies like this are what make me depressed to live in this time. Either it was the warm tint, or the beautiful scenes of the French country sides - this movie captivated me and left me wishing I lived in such a simple time and place. As seen in Amélie, Jean-Pierre Jeunet connects you to the character through funny little ideas that we would only keep to ourselves - in this case its Mathilde’s mind races to ensure that there is still hope that her fiance is still alive. After seeing the two movies from Jeunet, I must find all that I can - he simply is (to my terms) the best story teller in theaters. You cannot walk away from seeing this film without thinking about it and/or pretending you have a French accent (or maybe thats just me). |  |
