Even though Kent Henderson is not exactly a minimalist, his website definitely is! And the combination of the two makes me love his portfolio, as short as it is. Last year I even took his “2″ image (which is only 400×400 pixels) and rasterbated it to put up on my wall. The raw letterpress type makes me happy.

I forget how I found Reka Nyari, but it has to do something with her going to the same jr. college that I did. I”m not sure if her clients” choices in models are great, or if its her lighting, but her simple studio shots seem to make the model’’s curves better than in a Victoria’’s Secret commercial. She also has some really cool club/party shots. A favorite flickr member of mine!

This album needs to be listened to exactly how the kind person who shared it simply put in a scan of the cd that he bought. “Please listen with your eyes closed.” The fact that who ever uploaded this went through extra effort to tell you to shows how much you really should! And may I add use headphones. The cover image really explains how you feel (image on right). You hear faint city sounds and lively things. If you had a beautiful and pleasant dream - this was the soundtrack.

Teeth

Teeth is the scariest and the funniest movie one can see. Warning: if you are a male you might not want to see this (not because it is a chick flick, in which it is far from, but because it may leave you with frightening thoughts), and you should definitely not watch this before going to sleep - you will have the worst nightmares of your life. Some of the scenes will leave your hand over your mouth in fear and you”ll have to pause the movie to finish your laughing.

Isolée is relaxing and surprising. I listen to a good deal of this eclectic housey type-ish music when I”m on the computer, and driving too. Don”t even really know how to describe them, you”ve gotta hear for yourself!

Some of the most amazing images! Corey Arnold is an Alaskan Sea Fisher and a photographer. Those two words combined may mean he’’s also suicidal? His pictures are far more vivid than the television shows you see on the Discovery Channel about deep sea and/or Arctic fishing. They are also quite funny. The one to the left is for an exhibit that I currently cannot remember the name or museum, but involves always a horse and a cat!? An image of some native people somewhere in the Arctic surrounded by their hunted moos or elk (whatever is the correct species) is saddening to animal lovers, but amazing to see how happy they are with living in such a remote land. He has a hilarious blog on his extremely well designed site too.

I found Emilie Simon a year or more ago and liked her until my friend from Montreal re-introduced me to her, and now I”m in love. Other than Corrine Bailey Rae, this is one of the sexiest voices to listen to. She’’s kind of like Lykke Li which you hear all over TV and popular indy type stores like Urban Outfitters now, but she’’s not as poppy and upbeat. Great soundtrack also for that really weird movie March of the Penguins

Eric Prydz, Pryda, whatever alias he is under, he makes the best house/techno type music. It’’s the kind that you can dance to, and also the kind where you don”t have to dance to (for those who refuse to even try) - its actually pretty calming. He has some bitching mixes of Pink Floyd. Also an awesome website, that I cant find who did…

Der Untergang

Downloaded and watched this the other night, and was very impressed and amazed. Finally a good depiction of Hitler (opposed to the Western depiction that he is the most evil man to ever live), as well as a good depiction of Nazi Germany (again opposed to the Western view). It is quite long, but you never for a second get bored. And, you”ll want to learn German after seeing the lead actress Alexandra Maria Lara! The actor who plays Hitler is amazingly spot-on for what I thought Hitler would act and sound like.
Overview: Hitler chooses his last assistant near the end of the war. As the Russians get closer, he sends troops that no longer exist, and as his Generals try to explain, he assumes that they are betraying him. He decides to stay in Berlin as it is attacked, which ultimately forces him to kill himself.

As casual as it sounds (only because I have it somewhat often), I woke up this morning paralyzed. Never before had I thought of researching it to see if it was an actual medical problem, and turns out: it is. After reading about it, I am quite thankful that I don’t have the hallucinations that most people experience, yet I am simply paralyzed for a minute or so when I force myself to wake up, as I frequently do being a lucid dreamer. Episodes are caused by a misconnection between the end of REM sleep and the trigger to un-paralyze the body (that is paralyzed normally during REM). Anyway, while researching I found this amazing, amazing Japanese photographer who has imagined and photographed what it is like for some, as well as many other disease and disorder related problems.
